The special-edition (Vespa Elettrica) RED is its namesake hue in spirit as well as visual appearance. This crimson edition of the iconic scooter by Piaggio is being offered in collaboration with the RED Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Bobby Shriver and U2 frontman Bono in 2006 to assist people affected by AIDS worldwide. Today, RED also helps those affected by COVID-19.

RED has raised more than $700 million for the Global Fund to support HIV/AIDS grants, benefiting more than 220 million people in most highly impacted communities around the world. With the all-electric (Vespa Elettrica) RED, Piaggio will donate $100 from each sale to the Global Fund.

The RED is a special version of the Vespa Elettrica, an urban commuter powered by a 4kW motor delivering the maximum power allowed in Europe from mopeds. That means that in Europe, the Elettrica is subject to low insurance premiums and no yearly road taxation.

The (Vespa Elettrica) RED is available in any color, as long as it’s—well, you know…Vespa

The Elettrica’s electric power unit was developed by Piaggio, including the air-cooled 4.2-kW/h lithium-ion battery, in cooperation with LG Chem, which supplies the individual cells for the electric scooter’s 48V battery. The Vespa Elettrica has a top speed of 32 mph.

The (Vespa Elettrica) RED is absolutely and undeniably red, from the cast aluminum wheels to the body to the seat trim. And it’s all for a worthy cause. Buon lavoro, Piaggio!
